DIVE INTO our “Responsible stays”:
A new way
of travelling
At DAIA Slow Beach Hotels, sustainability has emerged as an essential factor.
We are fully immersed in a more conscious way of life, fully connected to the environment and its conservation, both at the environmental and social level, in order to safeguard our planet.
Our hotels not only provide a way of life aligned with the “Slow Movement” but a new way of travelling in which we can operate together to care for the environment.
What do we do?
At DAIA hotels we are committed to sustainable management for environmental conservation, the preservation of cultural diversity, and the development of the local community in which we are located.
We seek to provide the highest quality service, while looking to minimise our social and environmental impact, inviting travellers to enjoy authentic experiences, relaxation, well-being and discovery of the local culture.
Other actions
The protection of our seas and oceans concerns us and affects us personally.
footprint
We are reducing our carbon footprint every day in order to improve our energy efficiency.
The Fuerte Foundation is the channel for our social and cultural projects.
SAVING WATER, A HUGE RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS REGION
Aware of the importance of water in such a sensitive area as southern Andalusia, we have introduced various measures in order to achieve a reduction in consumption. In this hotel we have installed efficient irrigation systems and flow reducers in taps
among other measures that are giving beneficial results.Promoting awareness of water saving among our customers and employees is the basis for achieving the targets set each year.
Water consumption is constantly recorded and monitored in terms of total volume, and the indicator of liters per customer is also measured to establish comparisons.
Flow reducers in the taps of the rooms and common bathrooms and in the showers.
Dual-flush toilets in the bathrooms.
We wash sheets and towels according to our customers’ demands.
Energy and
carbon footprint
Implementing measures to achieve the highest possible energy efficiency is crucial to minimising our environmental impact.
These efficiency measures not only contribute to the reduction of electricity or fossil fuel consumption, but also directly influence the reduction of our carbon footprint, which is one of our most important annual objectives at the hotel, because it helps us understand our overall impact in a meaningful way.
Among the energy efficiency measures introduced, the following stand out:
We have achieved our goal of reducing the carbon footprint at the group level. We have reduced 8.4% of CO2 equivalents per customer.
We have exceeded our goal of reducing greenhouse gases by reaching an 11.04% reduction at the group level. This leads us to decarbonize at a faster pace than we predicted.
The installation of LED lights in more than 90% of the hotel’s facilities.
The automatic disconnection system of the air conditioning when opening the room windows.
Double-glazed windows to avoid energy losses in the rooms.
The use of renewable energies thanks to the installation of solar panels in the hotel itself, which allows heating the water in the rooms (saving significant amounts of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere).
Use of sensors and timers in the employee area and parking to automatically turn off lights.
We record and monitor energy consumption, both for electricity, diesel, and propane supplies, and we conduct consumption comparisons per customer to carry out constant energy efficiency studies.
We use solar thermal energy to heat the water that goes to the rooms and thus save energy.
We have an exhaustive maintenance and control plan for energy installations to ensure maximum efficiency.
Circular economy and waste management
At DAIA, actions such as:
Separation of plastic, paper and cardboard, glass, cooking oil and aluminium and food waste monitoring, with the aim of reducing overall waste to an absolute minimum.
Introduction of a purchasing policy that includes favouring bulk purchase and reducing product packaging.
Amenities made of biodegradable or ecologically friendly material are provided, among many other measures.
There is a procedure created for the correct registration and management of these wastes. Mandatory for certifications (POE1 Waste management and circular economy).
Our employees receive training on waste separation.
We provide reusable bottles and water refill stations for our customers.
Fixed refillable shampoo and gel dispensers (instead of individual bottles).
The “Winnow” system for food optimization and utilization is used, allowing a reduction of 40% to 70% in food waste at the hotel.
Textiles such as tablecloths and uniforms are reused
FOR EXAMPLE, IN THIS HOTEL WE OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE TO BOTTLED WATER THROUGH THE USE OF OSMOTISED WATER, WHICH ENABLES US TO SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE THE PLASTIC WASTE GENERATED.
Conservation of our natural heritage
At DAIA we are fully aware of the importance of protecting biodiversity and natural ecosystems. As a consequence we are careful to provide information to guests which:
- Encourages visits to environments without leaving a footprint.

The Slow Food concept that we apply at DAIA promotes local, traditional, sustainable Kilometre 0 foods.
A large percentage of our products come from the municipality itself and its surroundings, and we thus promote the local economy, while preventing a large amount of polluting gases that would be emitted during longer transportation.

- We have a control procedure for waste to avoid food waste from foods that expire and are not consumed.
- WINNOW system for measuring food waste, aiming to improve operations and reduce waste.
- The necessary food purchase is adjusted daily according to expected occupancy forecasts.
